The Museum was opened to the public in 1987. The important exhibits are inscription of Kongu Chola, hero stones from Bargur, Tanjore paintings, manuscripts, coins, geological objects, Kodumanal antiques and other pre-history items. It has both botanical and zoological specimens also. The Museum is known for its collection of palm-leaf manuscripts and coins.

Bhuvani temple: the sangameshwar temple at bhuvani is situated at the confluence of the rivers bhuvani and the Cauvery. This place is called ‘tiruveni of south india’. It is an important pilgrim centre. Lord sangameshwarer with his consort vedanayaki is the presiding deity. It is said that during the east india company regime the then collector of Coimbatore and salem districts. William arrow, who had his headquarters at bhuvani, worshipped goddess vedanayaki. One night the goddess directed him in his dream to vacate his bungalow immediately. The moment he moved out the entire bungalow collapsed. He wondered at this miracle and he presented to the temple an ivory cradle, which is still in the temple, with is signature. Ph: 0424-230192

Bhuvanisagar dam: this is about 16 kms from sathyamangalam across the river bhuvani. This dam was built only with sand.

Chennimalai: it is situated between erode and Coimbatore. On the way to Coimbatore. This hill temple is about 7-1/2 kilometres south of lagoor railway station. This temple is temple is located in the city of chennimalai is 26 kilometres from erode and three kilometres from perunthurai chennimalai can be reached road from erode. Which is a business centre. The nearest railway station is ingoor and can be reached by road from perunturai also. The nearest airport is Coimbatore. The devasthanam has provided special houses to reach the hilltop. Kodiveri dam: this is about 10 kms from cobicchettipalaiyam and 55 kms from erode.

Kodumudi: it is 40 kms from erode. A special features of tis place is the shrine for sive. Vishnu brahma are located in one temple complex siva is known as muchukundeswarar and Vishnu as veera narayana perumal. This is one of the important temples in erode district.

Sangameswarar temple: located 15 kms north east from erode railway station 55 kms from salem and 40 kms mettur is the famous pilgrimage centre bhuvani is known mainly by its temple which was built 1000 years ago by kongu’s state kings. It was built by black stones at the meeting point of rivers cauveri and bhuvani. In north india, the meeting point of three rivers ganga Yamuna and sarawathy is famously known as ‘triveni sangamam’. Like that in south Cauvery and bhuvani is meet at this point and so it has gods several names like that chita prayagai, bhudrikavasiramam and mukkdal, vijayapuri, veerapuram ect. Ph: 0424-230192.

Sivam hill: this is one of the hill temple. This is also a holyland which located at kangeyam in erode district. The special feature of this temple is the celebration “thai poja” in every year of the month of thai. And this temple used to have aims for the poor people.

Sri kondathu kaliyamman temple (pariyur): cobichettipalayam is simply called as “cobi”. In station, there is an important place called “pariyur”. In the city there is a most important temple called “kondathu kaliyamman temple”. Here, the goddest kaliyamman give her blessings to her devotees. Pariyur is situated 4 kms away from cobi, – anthiyur road. To decide anything, they keep two different colours of flowers in front of the goddess kaliyamman. The decision depends upon the chosen flower. The total area of the temple covers around 5 acres and the temple is built with marbles. In 1942, “kumbabhishegam” was performed at this temple. Inside the temple, we can see the statues of “brammahi”, maheshwari, gowmari, vaishnavi mahendri and chamudi. An old man named gobi chetti, went to this station from pariyur and hence it was named “gobichettipalaiyam”. Once, the people were affected by on evil discase, and they had many casualities and remaining people moved to other area as a result of this famous goddess, a temple named “kaliamman” was erected. Thanthai periyar memorial: the social reformer mr.E.V.Ramasamy called thanthai periyar and the great mathematician srinivasa ramanujam are the sons of soil. This memorial is 528.1 sqkm. And it was opened on 17-08-1975. His statue, life history and photographs are displayed here to visiting public, situated at periyar road, erode-1.
